Kids Yoga Ages 5-10

Santi Yoga-261 In a fun and loving atmosphere, children are introduced to yoga through games, music and asanas. Yoga builds confidence and self-control, and helps kids learn to relax. At the same time, their strength, flexibility, and coordination are increased. Partner poses are used to create supportive bonds and help kids learn to respect themselves and others. Classes are held in four week series, with a new series beginning each month. What if I’m not flexible? One of the most common misconceptions about Yoga is that you must be flexible to do Yoga. Yoga is available for everyone regardless of your age, flexibility or physical condition. Stretching your body and spine can increase your flexibility, relaxing, strengthening, reshaping and healing your body, mind and spirit. Why is the room heated for some classes? Some, but not all of our practices are done in a heated room. The heat and humidity allow the body to sweat, opening pores and flushing toxins from the body. The muscles are warmed to allow for deeper stretching, and to allow for a deeper release within the body.

  • Eat lightly or not at all before class.
  • Yoga mats are available on loan and for sale at the studio. If you practice regularly, it is more hygienic to purchase your own.
  • Arrive 10-15 minutes before the start of class if possible. This gives you time to quiet your mind and prepare yourself for practice.
  • Yoga is not just a workout, but a spiritual practice that nurtures physical, mental and spiritual growth. Let go of competition with yourself and others, and allow yourself to look inward and discover the light that is in you. Have fun!
